1. About RetroSelfie

RetroSelfie ("we", "us", "our") is a photo editing app. You can take or choose a photo, edit it with free tools that run on your device, and, if you choose, edit it with AI. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app uses, why, who receives it, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.

2. Data We Access, Collect, and Use

• Camera and photos: the app uses your camera and photo library so you can take or choose a photo to edit. The free editing tools (light, tone, frames, stickers, crop) work entirely on your device and send nothing anywhere.
• Photos you edit with AI: when you start an AI edit, the photo you are editing and the edit you chose or typed are sent to Google for processing (see section 3). This happens only after you tap Allow in the app's AI Photo Sharing screen, and only when you start an AI edit.
• Account (optional): you can use RetroSelfie as a guest. If you create an account, we store your email address and a password managed by our sign-in provider, so your credits stay with you across devices.
• Credits and purchases: your credit balance, credit history (for example credits used for AI edits or received as a bonus), and records of credit packs you buy.
• Device and usage information: a random identifier the app creates for your device, your device model, app version and country setting, and an approximate location (country, region, city and approximate coordinates) derived from your IP address by our hosting provider. Our servers also keep request logs with this information.
• Product analytics: events about how the app is used, such as which screens and edits you use, including the text you type as edit instructions. When you are signed in, these are linked to your account ID and email address.
• Crash and error data: diagnostic reports when the app crashes or hits an error, linked to the random device identifier.

3. How We Share Your Data

We share data only with the service providers below, only for the purpose listed, and only to run the app:

• Google (Gemini API), for AI edits: receives the photo you are editing and your edit instructions when you start an AI edit, after you allow it in the app. Google processes this data under the Gemini API Terms of Service. The photo goes from your device to Google directly or passes through our server on the way; we do not store it on our servers either way. Edited results are saved only on your device.
• Supabase, for accounts and credits: stores your account (if you create one), your credit wallet and history, and your device records.
• Vercel, for hosting: runs our servers and receives the requests the app makes, including your IP address.
• RevenueCat, for purchases: processes credit pack purchases together with the App Store or Google Play and receives your account ID or device identifier and your purchase records.
• Mixpanel, for product analytics: receives the usage events described in section 2 and, when you are signed in, your account ID and email address.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google), for stability: receives crash and error reports and your device identifier.

Each of these providers is required to protect your data to at least the standard described in this policy and to use it only to provide their service to us.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Secure Data Handling

All data the app sends, including photos sent for AI edits, travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your device, our servers and our service providers.

5. Data Retention, Your Choices, and Deletion

Photos: we do not store your photos on our servers. Edited photos are saved on your device, where you control them.

Account and credits: we keep your account, credit wallet and device records while your account exists. Records of purchases are kept after deletion because the law requires them for accounting, but they are no longer linked to you.

Guests: without an account, your credits are tied to the random device identifier and include no name or email, so we cannot look them up by name or email. Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your phone.

Turning off AI photo sharing: in the app, open Me and switch off AI Photo Sharing. The app then sends no photos for AI edits until you allow it again.

Deleting your account: in the app, open Me, tap Delete Account and confirm. This deletes your account, sign-in and credit balance and removes your data from our systems as described on our account deletion page, which also explains how to ask us to delete it if you cannot open the app. Usage analytics and crash reports are not removed automatically; we delete them on request. You can also email privacy@retroselfie.me; we respond within 30 days.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of RetroSelfie after changes means you accept the updated policy.
